  • Just make sure that when you install you actually install into the minecraft.jar not just throw the .RAR or .zip file into the mods file, I did that didn’t work, so I put into .jar and then it started working 🙂

      • click on run in the start menu, type in %appdata% and double click on .minecraft

It should be the top file, double click on that and scroll to the bottom of the page it brings up. Right click on the java-icon-thing (at the bottom) and select open archive.

          • I’m having the exact same glitch.

Forge recognized that I had TMI installed, but in my world I opened up my inventory and pressed “O,” and nothing had happened.

I even cleaned out my launcher and made TMI the first mod I installed, and it still doesn’t work.

  • I am new to mods. I finally figured how to install the too many items mod, but i can’t get it to work in minecraft. I’m not computer gizmo – so please give detailed answes:
    1. I had a minecraft demo, then i purchased the full game “minecraft 1.5.2” for pc – do i have to delete the demo & re-download the purchased game for the mods to work?
    2. Right now, when I open 1.5.1, and hit “e” for inventory and then hit “o” for mod – nothing happens. What can I do to make this mod work???? Please help me, I’m desperate.

    please answer me….

    • If you are getting a black screen when you open Minecraft, you forgot to delete the file “META-INF”. Open the Minecraft jar with winRAR or 7-zip, and just delete the META-INF file. Problem solved! 😛

  • The TooManyItems 1.6.1 (as of 7/3/2013) is not compatible with Minecraft Forge.

    Installation instructions:

    1. Go to start menu > type %appdata%/.minecraft/versions and press Enter.
    2. You will see a folder named 1.6.1 create a copy of it on same folder (duplicate it) and name it whatever you want, for e.g. moddedminecraft.
    3. Now open that moddedminecraft folder, you will see 1.6.1.jar and 1.6.1.json file, rename them to:

    – moddedminecraft.jar
    – moddedminecraft.json

    4. Now open moddedminecraft.json file with notepad or any other text editor.
    5. change the ID from 1.6.1 to moddedminecraft

    For example: “id”: “moddedminecraft”,

    5. Now Download ToomanyItems.zip and open Moddedminecraft.jar file and move the class files into the jar.

    6. Open Minecraft Launcher, create a new profile, select “moddedminecraft” from version list.

    7. Now, Run Minecraft with new profile to verify mod installation. If any black screen, delete META-INF.

    • It takes too much bandwidth and server space to host all those file downloads on a personal server. Can you imagine the cost? Wow. That is where adfly comes in. Free file hosting – just watch an ad for 5 measly seconds and then your file is available in the upper right corner.

      No biggie, right?
